Hunger 101
The number of children and adults in need of food and experiencing food insecurity has increased significantly nationwide. Food pantries are seeing increased demands from many first time clients due to recent economic conditions. Layoffs, company closings and downsizing have all had an effect on communities everywhere. Many grandparents are raising grandchildren. They are often faced with a limited budget, mounting medical bills and now an added expense of children in the home. There are numerous circumstances that can lead to food insecurity. Harvest Texarkana Regional Food Bank has provided assistance in times of natural disasters, situational disasters, such as a families home has burned down and many other situations. There is no easy answer to ending hunger. But together we can definitely make a huge impact towards that goal.
