Harvest Texarkana, a United Way agency, is dedicated to alleviating hunger through the free distribution of donated excess food to programs feeding those in need and to educating the community about the causes of hunger.

Since 1989, Harvest Texarkana has been helping feed the needy in our community. The program collects excess, edible food from area bakeries, grocery stores, restaurants and other food providers. The food collected would otherwise be discarded.
Instead of throwing the excess food away, Harvest Texarkana helps provide over 470,000 free meals a year through agencies in Atlanta, New Boston and Texarkana. Currently, approximately forty food providers donate food to the program. Harvest Texarkana picks up and delivers the food donations, provides food containers and actively solicits new food donors.
All of Harvest Texarkana’s services and donated food is provided for free to the recipient agency and to the individuals they feed. In 2005, Harvest Texarkana rescued 601,671 pounds of food and distributed it to 28 area agencies.
Harvest Texarkana does not receive any state or federal funding. We rely solely on individual, corporate/foundation donations, and United Way funding.
